Permobil Wheelchair Plusses
- Seat is more comfortable
- Headrest is nice to be able to lean back.
- Recline is a plus for weight distribution
- Don't have to work feet from one
side to the other of the tiller
Minuses
- Can't reach the floor
- Need height adjust to be able to even attempt to transfer
- Foot rests are really hard to get up and down (for transfers) (Where and
how are you supposed to keep your feet out of the way?)
- Way too big. Too wide, turning radius isn't acceptable.
- Can't get close to the kitchen counters (The scooter can pull up along
side and swivel chair. Wheel chair has to go 'head in' and can't get close.)
- Foot rests scrape on the ramp or concrete non-curb
- No stable grab-able place when transferring from the toilet.
- Harder to 'fine control' than the scooter. Joy stick is too sensitive
and the rear wheels cause 'fish tailing' which
is disconcerting
- Delay in forward/reverse direction causes difficulty
- Storage (what usually is on the back of the scooter
seat) doesn't work on the chair. No way to
rotate the seat
to get to the
bag.
- Can't switch hands for drive control.
(Alternate right and left hand control very
easily) (For getting through
doors or walking
the dog,
for example)
